The Miss America Pageant was established in 1921 in Attantic City, New Jersey.  The pageant was staged at the Boardwalk Convention Center (then called Convention Hall).  In 1935, the talent was added to the competition, which was staged in the Marine Ballroom of the Steel Pier.  In 1940, the competition returns to the Boardwalk Hall.
